You will have learned that Sutton Council has agreed to your ward councillors request that there should be a special meeting of the Development Control Committee to consider the Hamptons planning application. There has been a huge response from the residents of Worcester Park. Both the response by residents and the Council’s decision to hold this single item for consideration on 3 December is unprecedented. Officers have now produced a report and the recommendation is that the Committee gives planning consent. Various residents’ associations and other groups representing the residents of Worcester Park have asked for a right to speak at the meeting in the Europa Gallery, Civic Offices, St. Nicholas Way, Sutton. We are continuing to work with everyone to ensure that we get across all concerns in an effective and efficient manner. If you want to speak at the meeting, we urge you to inform the Committee Secretary, Peter Snow by email on peter.snow@sutton.gov.uk . In order. to co-ordinate our efforts, it would also be helpful if you could let us know what your particular concern is. Worries about the infrastructure, roads, traffic congestion and parking together with the need for a GP surgery will be made. You can contact any of us using the contact details below. We hope that there will be a good turnout on Monday 3rd December to impress upon the Committee and the developers how unpopular the planning application is, because of its failure to recognize the needs of Worcester Park and existing residents. Thank you though, for your efforts already in making these worries clear and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Monday.
Yours sincerely Richard Butt 0845 4309922 | Stuart Gordon-Bullock 020 8644 2732 | Helen Senior 0208 786 9038 |

 | Sutton Conservatives launch Policy Groups initiative |
On Monday 26th November 2007, Conservatives on Sutton Council launched their groundbreaking Policy Groups initiative. The first of its kind in local government, the project aims to throw open the debate on topics relevant to the everyday lives of Sutton's residents. The five groups are made up of a mixture of political members (councillors) and non-political members who are experts in their fields. For example the Law and Order Policy Group will have two former policemen and a sitting Magistrate as non-political members. The groups are set up to create debate, provide evidence through research, and conduct investigations in order to help shape the future of Sutton. The five policy groups are: - Law and Order Policy Group
- Education and Training Policy Group
- Quality of Life Policy Group
- Environment and Community Sustainability Policy Group
Housing, Planning and Transport Policy Group
